2023 was Writing Waves’ Year of Cultivation and Visibility. The plan was to learn more and apply the knowledge acquired throughout the year. Under the cultivation goal, I chose to learn more about marketing and copywriting from mentors Apryl Beverly and Alex Cattoni. Under the visibility goal, I set out to write monthly blogs and weekly social media posts. I had no idea of the time required for the commitments placed. Whew! Thus, I had to pivot, and as I always say, “Change is good once it’s accepted!”
Continuing to service clients and nurture my offerings, the monthly blogs turned into random seldom, and my weekly posts were scattered. The learning was so interestingly intense that I found myself wanting more. I purchased:
- A 3-month membership to Apryl Beverly’s Copy Closet
- Alex Cattoni’s Copy Posse Launch Files, an 8-week program
- Attended Alex Cattoni’s Copy Posse Posse Week
- Attended Apryl Beverly’s 12 Days of Salesmas with the VIP membership
- A few tutorials from the Digital Head Turner to step up my Canva game
The webinars and tutorials were jam-packed with extensive detail. It was difficult to stay on task with my professional commitments outside of showing up for my clients. However, NO REGRETS! Cultivation will always be part of personal and professional growth.
Hello, 2024!
So, what is my word/goal for 2024? Focused progression! Yes, not just progression. Focused progression. What’s the difference between progression and focused progression? Enter mini soapbox time. 😀
Often, we hear people say they are progressing or moving forward, and with both come some focus and planning. Focused progression is more strategic. The plan(s) is/are more targeted and centered toward a specific direction, not just the result. A person with a goal of focused progression has focused intention. They have deliberately and purposely mapped out their steps. They aren’t swayed by friends, family, mentors, or experts. They are determined to do it their way with high hopes of a successful return as defined by them. If, in the end, their definition of success is not received, they know exactly how to find the error or mistake that threw them off course.
What I learned from Apryl and Alex will be applied throughout 2024, as I continue to learn from them. My schedule will be tight. My timelines will be strict. My dedication will be fierce. I know which surf I want Writing Waves to take. To catch the barrel of the wave at the right time, I need to practice discipline and consistency. I need focused direction for focused progression.
Look forward to seeing more of Writing Waves in 2024, as I empathetically surf the ocean of words for businesses and brands to engage and connect with their audiences. And to those businesses and brands that have word-surfed with Writing Waves before, thank you for trusting me! To quote the late, great Tupac Shakur, “You are appreciated!”
