What are damaged goods? Goods that are now bad, no longer have value, and can no longer be consumed or used.
Some people have hurt others by telling them they are “damaged goods, no good, no one will want them, or they are has-beens.” However, such is not the case!
First of all, a good is a commodity. It’s something to purchase.
- People are not commodities!
- People are not purchasable!
- People are not goods!
Number two, don’t look at your experiences as damaging you. They may have caused you damage, yet you are not beyond repair. Don’t look at your experiences as making you worse off than you could be. NO, no, no! Your experiences taught you something. Your experiences trained you for your present and your future. Your experiences broadened your intellect and your vision.
No matter how painful or hurtful your experiences were, they are in the past! Leave them there. Your past does not dictate your future unless you let it. Your past gives you a foundation for your future. It’s not the building, it’s the base. What you do with that substructure is up to you, not other people. Your destiny is your own.
Because of your experiences, you are a treasure! You are a treasure to be found, appreciated, and worth having. You are not damaged goods or broken. You are knowledgeable.
- Be bold!
- Be confident!
- Be brave!
Your experiences were the groundwork for your expertise. Let your experiences be the reasons you become the treasure that you are. Go, get that, whatever that is, because it’s yours to have! I’ll let Mary Mary reiterate with their hit song, “Go Get It!” You don’t have to believe in God for the lyrics minister to your soul. 🙂 ❤
