I have to vent for a hot second!
While still on disability because of a microfracture knee surgery, I’m watching more television. Due to dropping my DVR privilege to become a “cord-cutter,” I have had the non-luxury of watching commercials.
Have you seen Volkswagen’s “Love Bug” commercial? ARE YOU SERIOUS, VW?!?!?! This commercial gives the illusion and imagery of a couple sharing coitus in their vehicle. Their procreation efforts cause them to need a bigger VW. This starts in the VW Bug/Beetle and happens a few times before the couple and their new family with a dog ends up in a VW SUV. The song in the background mentions, “the birds and the bees,” which is an old-school catchphrase for teaching children about sex.
This is ok for everyone?!!?!? This commercial was on basic television. Gay people can’t get married but the idea of having sex over and over again in a vehicle is a-o-k? A pole dancer can’t teach her daughter or son pole dancing moves without being shamed to all hell, yet it’s ok for VW to tell AMERICA, “Keep having sex in our cars so you can buy more of our cars!!!”
I wonder did anyone in VW’s public relations or marketing departments run this idea through law enforcement? Such acts are actually illegal in CA and this commercial aired in CA. They may be illegal or legal in other states, I’m unknowing. As for good ole Cali, NO WAY! It’s illegal, period.
You people make me sick! You people, meaning you extra conservative folks who act like you’ve never done ANYTHING wrong or out of the societal norm and then shame others for living their OWN lives differently from you. You same people are ok with this commercial airing for every child and non-married person to view and enact. UGH!
Many people found this commercial comical. I venture to say many of the people who laughed have shamed a few folks who did nothing wrong to them for something they thought was against their personal norms. I bet those same folks wouldn’t laugh if their teen was caught having sex in their family’s VW SUV! Bet it wouldn’t be a chuckle/giggle matter then! It’s all just marketing until acting becomes reality.
I apologize for this post being so all over the place. I’m upset with our hypersexual society being the new normal, even though it’s been like this for some time. HMPH! If you haven’t seen the commercial, here – take a look. I shouldn’t give it publicity but it’s already on tv. My lil blog won’t give it more than what television already has and still, SHAME ON IT ALL!
